The following is one of the few good stories I have read from South Africa lately. It attests to the effectiveness of owning and carrying a firearm. I would recommend that each of you, regardless of whether you are in South Africa or abroad, obtain a concealed carry weapon. The United States, has far too many psychopaths running around shooting people at schools, shopping malls, and places of business. The problem is even worse in South Africa.

A Midrand resident, who witnessed a hijacking on Thursday morning, pulled out his firearm and shot dead one alleged hijacker and critically wounded a second one, police said.

Police spokesperson Superintendent Eugene Opperman said the two hijackers were attempting to rob a man of his vehicle on Old Pretoria Road in Midrand when the crime was spotted by a resident of the area.

“The member of the public tried to confront the robbers but they opened fire on him,” said Opperman.

“Using his own licensed firearm, he then fired shots at the robbers, fatally wounding one and critically injuring another,” he said.

Police recovered a stolen pistol at the scene.

Cases of armed robbery and attempted murder have been opened.

The injured hijacker was recovering at a nearby hospital under police guard, police said. – Sapa
