Multiple Sclerosis is thought to be a autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system. In MS myelin is lost in multiple areas, leaving scar tissue called sclerosis. These damaged areas are also known as plaques or lesions. Sometimes the nerve fiber itself is damaged or broken.

Although there is still no cure for MS there are various strategies available to modify the disease course. treat exacerbations, manage systems, and improve function and safety. In combination, these treatments enhance the quality of life for people living with MS.

Sativex is an oral spray containing a cannabis extract produced by GW Pharmaceuticals. You take it by spraying it under the tongue or inside the cheeks. Sativex in clinical trials has shown promising results in the relief of spasticity, nerve pain, sleep disturbance, and bladder systems.

Because MS is so variable from person to another and for any one person over time, each individuals treatment needs are best identified in an ongoing collaboration with  members of the treatment team.
