Electricity consumption in South Africa is becoming a huge problem. Consumption is almost outstripping supply resulting in blackouts on a regular basis. The general public in Cape Town was asked to switch to energy saving bulbs. The media is filled with adverts on how to same electricity.

One would expect this would apply to all citizens of Cape Town by assumption, yet our city council seems to be exempt from this policy. With the municipal charges they smacked on the residents that would make sense to waste at our expense.
